Metberry Gulch Member Report
Run on May 23, 2010

» Get Trail Information

This was the last trail of the day off of Cedar Mountain Road. At the gate for Metberry Gulch there was a sign warning about a big mud hole. We drove down the trail for some time and eventually came to the big mud hole that the sign warned us about. It was not too deep but you had to drop into it so you couldn't get much momentum at the start. It was pretty sticky stuff. It was about a two-foot drop into the mud hole.

When Matt went through the mud hole, he got a long log stuck between both front tires of his Jeep inside the rim. It took a few minutes to get the log out. Bill had no such trouble with the mud hole. It was an adventure but we were both through it.

The rest of the trail to the hill and the Rock Slab was pretty smooth. We had no issues with either section. It wasn't very long before we were at the end of the trail.

We walked around and took some pictures of the river. It was nice to get out and stretch our legs in the sun. Soon we were on our way back up the hill and up the Rock Slab. We didn't have any uphill issues, either.

Soon we were back at the big mud hole. We thought that the mud hole was going to be a challenge on the way up, but it ended up being very easy to get through. We didn't have any issues at all on the way up and soon we were at the end of Metberry Gulch. We finished up Cedar Mountain Road to wrap up a great day in Colorado sunshine.
