Hidden Valley Road Member Report
Run on August 4, 2007

» Get Trail Information

The weather for the day started out perfectly, with blue skies and a warm sun. We aired down and disconnected our sway bars on Jackson Creek Road, then headed for the trail. We definitely had a blast.

Everyone dipped down and through the few inches of water as we passed to the right of the bridge and through the water. We didn't see anyone as we passed through the area.

Though there were beer cans on the tops of the fence posts, the trail was clean on the way up. The shade from the trees was nice, and the trail was dry.

The first bit of whoopdeedoos was a great time for everyone. We all picked our own lines, flexing and twisting suspensions as we went through it. It was Dane's first run with his new Wrangler JK and he was happy with how it flexed, which was nice.

We were all happy to see the next bit of whoopdeedoos, with a big crack running through it. The crack wasn't a straight one, so it would involve some driving and choosing a good line to get through it.

Some people had some issues on the way through, but recovering from the issues wasn't usually a big deal. We all found out we had to use 4-low to really finesse our ways through the twisting trail, and many people had to engage their lockers to get out of the crack once they fell in too much.

Brian probably had the most fun with it, laying his Scout sideways in the biggest part of the crack near the end of it. The kids got to crawl out the window onto the ground that was inches away, making for some excited stories. Brian worked on it for a bit, but he ended up needing some help from a winch to get unstuck. Everyone was grinning. The day was starting out just right!

The trail really mellowed out after that, and soon we were at the end at Dakan Road. We went the wrong way for a minute at first, but then we turned around and got headed toward Rampart Range Road.

This trail was a blast, and we'll definitely use it as our way in from now on.
