This loop is a fun diversion if you are on Yankee Hill. The scenery is a bit different, and an optional hill keeps things interesting.
You can start at either end. If you start on the east end, you will be at a confusing 4-way intersection. Yankee Hill is on the south and west spurs, while Miners Gulch is on the north spur. The east spur simply loops back around to Yankee Hill.
Shortly into the Miners Gulch trail you will come to an intersection. If you turn left here you will be starting Miners Hill, a short but fun climb back up to Yankee Hill. It is optional, and you can choose to continue straight at the intersection instead if you wish to see the rest of the Miners Gulch trail.
Thsi trail dips down into the shade, so you will often find snow here later in the season compared to other trails in the area. Note that it can be difficult to turn around on the trail in most places.
